The Barn was built in the late 17th century as part of a German farming settlement called Middle Valley. It was converted 25 years ago and has been our residence for 20 years.
Our Little General Store has been a landmark for over 200 years has served many travelers on the road from Morristown , New Jersey, to Easton , Pennsylvania. It is not your Seven Eleven but you can pickup your mail, coffee, a good sandwich, a pizza and conversation seven days a week.

The period between 1800 and 1820 and the construction of Morristown-Easton highway and the discovery of mineral springs on the mountain created an infusion of visitors. The health giving waters attracted many rich and famous to the mountain . Several hotels were built and could accommodate over 300 boarders in one evening.
The First Presbyterian Church has been active for over 175 years and several seminaries have been established and still exist on the mountain roads The Heath House is a reminder of the elegance of the past and a credit to the local historical society work to preserve the past on Schooleys Mountain.

Our personal project has been our home of 20+ years; an 18th century stone barn perched at 1000 ft above the Middle Valley section of Long Valley on Schooleys Mountain. Everyday I admire the vision of the German settlers that dug a hole {our 1st floor is 6 feet in the ground} and built a stone foundation that is now 230 years old. The gardens, my wife Elizabeth has planted are great! We have enjoyed maintaining and expanding this piece of history.
A very big part of our lives is our son, Paul. Paul has reached so many personal achievements; finished 4 years of advanced studies on the honor role, placed 4th in the National ADAU Powerlifting competition and a state record, not easy for someone 6'6'' and completed his Scout Eagle badge! He is very excited about his choice of career, Geomatics. The empty nesters have have survived six years and have coped with his relocation to University of Alaska at Anchorage, and his wife Shawana, raised outside of Harrisburg, PA.(thankfully),,,, oh, well enjoy the pictures... click on, to enlarge them
